Fortunately, there are base spices a someone can use to alleviate many of the symptoms without the side effects of taking the drugs. (Have you ever accidentally taken a non-drowsy medication just before bedtime?)In our highly-caffeinated society, I hesitate to put yet one more stimulant into my body.
Make tea by steeping ginger in nearly-boiling water to aid in breathing and even potentially ward off sinus infections. Boiling the water depletes it of its oxygen, which will sacrifice the tea's effectiveness. Rosemary tea has also been used for centuries for cold, cough and asthma symptoms, and basil has been known to help sacrifice fever and coughing.
Other spices that live in your spice rack known to sacrifice symptoms are cinnamon, licorice, black pepper and cloves. You can quantum a teaspoon of each, generate a powder and take them directly, or by placing one teaspoon of the spice in a cup of boiling water
Boosting the immune system also helps you avoid getting sick in the first place. Garlic, thyme (both as a tea and a spice), and vitamin C are all known to help with full, resistance to contracting these illnesses. While these should be taken while "healthy" times, if you do get sick you can blast that cold with an extra dose of those items for any days.
While these next remedies aren't necessarily regulars on your spice rack, they still use well-known ingredients. Lemon juice in hot water and gargling salt water ease a sore throat and potentially kill off bacteria. The Chinese have used wild oregano oil for its antibacterial and antifungal properties for centuries. Finally, many of these ingredients and spices mentioned above can come in pill or tea form, which makes it easier to incorporate them into your healthy life!
